Suzanne (Sue) Syvertson enjoys painting, mixed media, abstracts, photography and mural art.
Sue began drawing, painting and sculpting when she was 9 years old and began teaching hand building ceramics and art classes to children when she was just a teen.Sue holds a professional certification in advertising digital graphic design from the Illinois Institute of Art and art history/figure drawing/photography/sculpture education from the Art Institute of Chicago, Columbia College and Lil Street Studios which she received while living in the Chicago area. She is a current member of the Museum of Fine Arts of Houston and has also recently studied with fine arts masters Robert Liberace, Qiang Huang, Bob Rohm, and Susan Sheets....and other professional artists including Salli Babbitt, Robin Williamson, Reg Stark, Caroline Ratliff and Jared Paul Wilson.
Sue is the Past President of the Lone Star Art Guild (2013-2015), a fine arts association of 17 community-based art organizations within a 200-mile radius of Houston, Texas with a membership of over 2000 visual artists and is an active member of three LSAG member leagues- the Art League of Fort Bend, the Brenham Fine Arts League and vice president of the Imperial Arts Alliance (Sugar Land).
Sue is also an active Houston-wide community volunteer having served as a board member of the Houston Tennis Association and Serve Up A Cure (SUAC -an annual tennis fundraising event benefiting Houston's Rose Facility for breast cancer patients) and currently serving as a committee volunteer with the Rosenberg Main Street Program and art & science educator at the Rosenberg Railroad Museum. With SUAC, Sue, as a breast cancer survivor herself, hand painted artistic tributes on vintage tennis skirts for the Life Line Salute, a commemorative display of these skirts done in honor or memory of women who've had breast cancer.
Sue's fine artworks have been donated for local fundraising events for the Arts for Rural Texas, Montgomery County Habitat for Humanity, Woodlands High School Art Trust, Serve Up A Cure and Houston Tennis Association National Junior Tennis & Learning.Sue's work is currently on display at the 5th Street Gallery (Rosenberg, TX), the Downtown Art Gallery and the Art League of Fort Bend's gallery within Vogelsang (Rosenberg, TX) and other locations.
